27 August, 2026, Gurugram:Nitro Commerce launched Nitro Apps, an AI app studio that can generate working Shopify apps with simple textual prompts. It has the ability to not only generate these custom Shopify apps, but also test and directly install them into the brand's Shopify Admin. Nitro Apps empowers D2C & e-commerce teams to create custom solutions while providing full ownership over the generated app, with no recurring app-based subscription fees, unlike traditional Shopify apps.
The launch follows Nitro Commerce's recent acquisition of Zodiac AI, an agentic AI copilot for quick commerce. With Nitro Apps, the company now enters app development, bringing vibe coding to the commerce ecosystem, extending its existing martech product suite into custom software development.
Currently, brands with requirements outside what listed apps offer rely on several paid apps or commission a developer to build one.
Nitro Apps has taken the same requirement as a brief and has built a complete, working application from it, covering both the storefront experience a shopper sees and the logic that runs it. Each build gets tested before it goes live. Early apps built on the platform include a checkout upsell tool, loyalty points engine, a back-in-stock alert system and a post-purchase survey.
Brands can choose to independently build and test applications on Nitro Apps or engage with specialized growth teams at Nitro Apps to build their custom solutions with them.
